TAX FORECLOSURES
1) Can I lose my home if I do not pay my property taxes?
2) What is a delinquent tax?
3) What happens after the property is forwarded from the local municipality in which the property owner lives to the county treasurer for collection?
4) What does it mean for my property to be in forfeiture? Does that mean I lose my property?

First, have you been applying for and receiving State Homestead Property Tax Credits?  This credit can be claimed retroactively for up to the past 4-years.      

Second, make sure you apply for the State Homestead Property Tax Credit when you complete this year’s State tax return.

Third, contact your local agencies social service agencies about emergency assistance – Call Central Michigan 211.

Fourth, contact your County Treasurer about the possibility of payment strategies.
