RENTERS
1)  I'm renting.  What can I do to protect myself from eviction if my landlord goes into foreclosure?

The most important thing initially to remember is during the six month period after the sheriff’s sale (“the redemption period”), there is no change in your status as a tenant or your landlord’s responsibilities. You should continue to pay rent and any specified utilities. Your landlord must continue to maintain the property, and she must continue to provide all of her specified utilities. If the landlord wishes to evict you during the redemption period, she must go through the standard eviction process; foreclosure does not add or subtract any eviction rights during this redemption period.

2) My landlord is in foreclosure.  Do I have to move right away?
